The center of the SunStick flower top changes color in response to how much sunlight shines on it during the day. Every minute of sunlight activates our special photosensitive surface. So whether your sunlight is continuous, dappled throughout the day, or varies greatly from morning to afternoon, SunStick will measure it.
After one day of testing, simply match the center color with the Sunlight Color Chart (included in each package), and in a snap determine your sunlight level. With SunStick put theright plant in the right spot, or find the perfect spot for your favorite plant, and save time and money in the process. Happy plants may reduce your water and fertilizer usage as well.

Follow these easy steps to gardening success:
- Choose the area of your yard, patio or deck where you want to measure sunlight and place SunStick there in the morning. Simple assembly instructions are enclosed.
- Return at the end of the day and compare the color of your SunStick with the Sunlight Color Chart.
- Choose plants by following the suggestions under the "Plants and Sunlight" tab, which has an extensive list of plants and their sunlight needs.
- SunStick can be used as an attractive plant identifier after exposure.
Tips for most accurate readings:
- Make sure trees are in full leaf.
- Choose a reasonably sunny day; over an hour of cloud cover or rain can affect your test results.
- Make sure SunStick is not shaded by surrounding plants. If needed, plant your SunStick in a flower pot to elevate it.
- SunStick is most accurate during the growing season.
